I'll Take You There
I’ll take you there is a zine printed on newspaper created by Liz Blood and Joseph Rushmore.
This work is a response to state sanctioned white supremacist violence, from the mirder of George Floyd to the countless other black Americans at the hands of police, to escalating state violence against protestors, to the white mobs, urged by government leaders, that stormed the US capitol. Nearly all of the photographs in this zine span the dates of May 28, 2020 - January 6th 2021 and include protests from Minneapolis, Tulsa, and Portland and white supremacist rallies in Oregon, Tulsa and the insurrection at the capitol. The writings are in response to these and other images and their corresponding events and to that general time period, but they are also deep reflections on history and the writers’ on lived experience.
Edited and designed by Liz Blood with photography from Joseph Rushmore and writings from Sebastian Diez Caceres, Arthur Malcom Dixon, Yatika Fields, Portlyn Harjo, Nkem Ike, Quraysh Ali Lansana, Kathryn Savage, Jasmine Elizebeth Smith, Laurie Thomas, and Robert R.A Turner.
